S-DIAT Signal Interference with Plasma TV

Recently there is a case on our Home Theatre System with the interference on the Plasma TV. Since some Plasma TVs have very high frequency and affect our wireless transmission (S-DIAT).

It is also a chance of promoting benefit of LCD technology, and our BRAVIA TV!

S-DIAT Wireless Transmission affected by some Plasma TV;
Some plasma TVs have infrared (IR) rays pass through the color filter of the Plasma panel;
High frequency released from the Plasma affect the rear speaker wireless transmission;
As a result, IR emitted from Plasma interfered the signal transmitted to the rear speaker;
Solutions provided to customer is to suggest them to connect the rear speaker by cable;
Not all plasma TV will affect S-DIAT system.

Recent Problem - Late of Working ; and SSHK Check-In

Recently, I received quite a lot of complains from dealers. They expressed that our promoters were late in the shop and roadshow duties.

It is not only a problem of AV team, but also a problem of PV's & VAIO's.

In AV session, at this moment, Rules and regulation will not carried out temporarily because it will occur extract operation for 3rd parties (e.g. dealers, agent company). That is want I don't want.

Another reason is that the "Rules of Meeting & Training" has just been announced in E/Dec. I want to focus on this long term and more important issue. But I will give personal warning to whom were late.

Self-Control is essential,
or new regulation will force to you...

Monthly Meeting for AV Session

Recently, Our overall of attendance rate of meeting/training is going down.

Overall Attendance Rate = Total Attendants / Total Headcount

As I said many times before, monthly meeting is main platform for us to exchange information. It is very important for whole promoter system.

To rise the rate, we have 2 factors to consider, (1) more attendants; (2) less headcount relative to shop front demand. For the coming months, I will maintain these 2 factors to achieve higher attendance rate.

On the other hand, it is risky for promoter to leave their time sheet and other related documents to other person. I would like to restrict the submission of these documents in person.

Push (by rule/restriction) or pull (by motivation/incentive), sometimes they are difficult for a supervisor to choose. In the situation of going worse, pushing policy is more effective for persons who do not make things done!! However, I understand that it is sometimes quite tough for others who work out their job wonderful.

Sony Promoter League Released Beta Launch

I would like to release the beta of Sony Promoter League to all of Sony HK promoters.

In Closed Beta version (before), I mainly focus on general layout for reading. Existing things are fine. Features include:

Recent Event Calendar - Make use of Google resources. You can see the schedule of promoter activities.
Highlighted Topics - One for each team plus one for all.
Labels - Related topics (tags). Good for filtering posts.
Useful Links - External links for web site you may find useful.

In Beta version (from now on), the codes and scripts in the blog will be review. Hopefully, jointing the forces from VAIO and DI team, more features can be added.

Additionally, I would like to open the reply features. It allows all of you to reply, suggest or enquire on related topics. However, for the interest of team and company, all messages should be control:

After you reply in the post, your message will be stored but will not be released.
We will review each of the message and then release it in the blog.

High-Definition Digital Broadcasting?

Besides our HD World, there is an external factor to push the "HD" concept. It is Digital Broadcasting. However, be reminded that they are 2 different concepts:

High Definition (HD) : Digital broadcasts with either 1,080 active scan lines in interlaced format—called "1,080i"— or 720 lines in progressive format—called"720p" as defined by the Advanced Television Systems Committee. (from: http://www.learningcenter.sony.us)
Digital Broadcast : To send a digital stream of information to your television set, a TV station takes tiny slices of the video image, assigns a numeric value to describe each slice, and mathematically encodes those values into equations... (from: http://www.learningcenter.sony.us) In contrast of analog broadcasting, digital broadcast provide better transmittion, because the structure of digital signal is simple (0 or 1) and it is basically strength. (It is very technical and you may find such information in google)

In future, we can enjoy the HD Digital Broadcast TV in Hong Kong. It is relatively late comparing to Japan, US, Europe and China. :(

The format and broadcasting information is not released in HK yet, so how come can we see "HD Ready" in the TV market?

It is not a trick. Since we don't have confirmed information from government, we cannot say that we offer "HDTV". We only can offer "HD-Ready" TVs

HDTV Ready : Sony's term for a set that doesn't have a built-in digital tuner, but can show high definition broadcasts in true high-definition resolution... To receive digital signals for the sets, however, consumers have to buy a separate HD receiver box (ClubEddy guest it will be bundled with Broadcasting Provider companies).

Let's see that is HDTV:

A TV set with a built-in digital tuner that can show high-definition broadcasts in true high-definition resolution.
Also refers to the broadcasts themselves.
According to CEA (US, not for HK), a fully integrated television set will receive all ATSC terrestrial digitaltransmissions and decode all ATSC Table 3 video formats.
It must display activevertical scanning lines of 720 progressive (720p), 1080 interlaced (1080i), or higher
in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.
It must also receive and decode or pass-through for decoding Dolby® Digital audio.
It must also receive and decode or pass through ford ecoding 5.1 digital surround sound.
According to the FCC, "HDTV is the best qualityTV".
